Are you struggling to find the perfect family room paint colors?  Like most households, you probably spend most of your time in your family room.  This is the place where you likely not only entertain yourself, but likely eat.  Since the television is also in this room, as well as likely a computer, it is a struggle to try finding the perfect paint color and decorating scheme to go with your busy living room. Luckily, there are wonderful family room color ideas that will leave your living room looking absolutely stunning!

Best Family Room Paint Colors & Decorating Ideas

In an ideal world, your family room wouldn’t just be the place where you sit back and relax as you talk to family. While this may have worked great in the 1950s, today, our family room always has people coming and going, as well as a variety of activities. For this reason, it is always difficult to try finding family room paint colors that can help bring all of these activities together.

One of the first things you need to determine when it comes to living room paint colors is the theme of your family room. If you are planning on having an elegant look in the room, this will not go well with colors that are perfect for a bohemian family room. As well, what is the main activity taking place in the room?

Living Room Paint Colors: Formal Room

While a family room is usually considered less formal, some families think of their living room and family as being one room. For this reason, many families’s try choosing elegant family room paint colors. Some of the best family room paint colors for an elegant looking family room include:

  • Dark Red
  • Dark blue
  • Grays
  • Dark Greens
  • Browns

If you are deciding to have a formal family room, make sure you match your family room paint colors with the furniture that is already in the room. It is very common for family’s to forgot to think about their current furniture during remodeling, so make sure you take this and your carpet (if you are keeping it) into account.

Family Room paint Colors: Casual Room

For most families, finding family room color ideas can be more frustrating if they are trying to create a casual room. In most casual living rooms, anything goes, allowing the sky to be the limit. Rather than become frustrated, take an item that you like and pick accent colors from this item for the room. An accent paint color, along with other coordinating colors, will create a stunning family room.  While it may take a bit more planning, these family room paint colors will likely make everyone in your family happy.

My family room is 21 ft X 17 ft with ash wood, picture frame paneling on the four walls. Pop corn ceiling with ash wood beam. A brick fireplace that is 5ft wide X 9 ft high (floor to ceiling) with a hearth that is 12 inches high x 10ft wide. It is a north room, only window is a north facing window. Can this be successfully painted? If so, what colors do you suggest? Would just painting the fireplace a creamy white perk up the room and make it more attractive or would it be to stark?
I so need some advice. It is my understanding this is a free service. Thank you.
